People say it all the time; I don't want someone with a lot of baggage. I have often wondered how someone gets to be 61 and has no baggage. I have also wondered what is the difference between baggage and luggage. I think the reality is no one is free of baggage. Some carry around more than others, but we all have it. How do you think we got those character lines, or the interesting, sometimes painful, often delightful memories that play across the ceiling at night? Who would we be without each and every moment that has brought us to this point? I would not check one piece of my baggage if it made me less than who I am now. I have learned from those adventures, cried over the losses, and treasured all. But baggage can weigh us down if we let it. Part of the wisdom of life comes in knowing when to zip up the bag and put it in the closet. Not gone, not lost, just done with it.

Luggage, to me, implies open, ready to travel, what do I need for this journey? Should I pack my jeans and cowboy hat or my work clothes? Should I take a picnic lunch or eat along the way? Do I need a map or should I just follow the road? My luggage is always open and I can pack in about 20 minutes. My baggage is lovingly tucked away in the back of my closet. I'm not afraid to unzip the bags and look inside if I need to. I think it is pretty foolish to pretend it isn't there, even if it is in the back of the closet, but it is my luggage I focus on now. less...

Baggage is a bloody part of life but it needs to be packed away and left in the era it prevailed in.

ve never lived..if your loved one does have to deal with it from time to time..you dont turn your back on them ..you try to help them.cause you love

Everyone has their own cross to bear. It's about how they deal with it.

They just don't want to hear how wonderful the dear departed husband or wife was. No one can compete with the dead. A brief history, under 5 minutes and move on. Keep the memories in a special place for yourself. Those very same memories give the new person all kinds of insecurities. You need to make new memories with the new person.

Learn from your past but recognize that every situation and every relationship is different and unique.... soo throw it into a sack n chuck-it...or have a bbq..I always love fires"piro-at-heart"...

Okay, I'm willing to concede, any person who when asked "Do you have any baggage?" replies "Only emotional" is a tool so big they should be put on a shelf down at Bunning's, right next to the Mark Holdens....then, buy the tee shirt ;)

Well put. Baggage is alright packed away but drag it out and make me carry it and we have a problem. I got my own to lug around.

Just like the saying, Got Issues, and my reply is, Hell, No I don't have Issues, I have volumes. that really makes them think. Also they can take their pick Gucci, Viton, and Samsonite, and I agree with you
